A Simple 10-Day Plan to Help You Book Early and Keep Your Cat’s Routine Consistent

Spring Break Cat Sitting Prep

Spring and Early Summer Travel Season Arrives Quickly In Florida. Once travel dates overlap, the best cat care schedules tend to be booked quickly.

At Ocala Pet Sitting, we believe that cat care should be calming, consistent and as uniquely tailored to each individual cat as possible. Therefore, at Ocala Pet Sitting our cat sitter will use your cats normal daily routine as well as their personality to help determine how best to interact with your pet on a visit by visit basis.

This high quality of service is reflected in our scheduling. As our booking season approaches and summer vacation travel increases, our scheduled appointments fill rapidly. By booking your cat sitting reservations early, we are able to develop a detailed and thoughtful plan for your cats stay.

This allows you to have the peace of mind knowing that all of the arrangements have been made ahead of time to allow you to enjoy your vacation.

Less Stress, More Purrs for everyone involved

Over 10 Days Before: Secure Your Schedule

Because the travel seasons can fill quickly, the sooner you can reserve your care, the more flexible your schedule will be.

New clients should plan to schedule their consultation at least 10-14 days prior to travel. By matching the type of visit you are interested in to your cat's personality, they will be able to relax and feel secure while you are away.

Action steps

  • Schedule your consultation and start your stress-free travel plan

  • If you are interested in booking Bed & Breakfast, ask about it early

7 Days Prior To Travel: Select The Right Level Of Care

By this time, all new clients will have completed their consultation and had a customized care plan developed for your cat. By matching your cat's personality to the type of visit you want, you'll help create a sense of relaxation and security for your cat while you are away.

The Cheetah (30-Minute Visits)

The Cheetah visit includes a scheduled visit that covers essential aspects of cat care including but not limited to food, fresh water, litter maintenance, and enrichment or calm companionship.

Recommended for confident cats with relatively simple routines and one to three cat households.

The Lion Heart (45-Minute Visits)

This is our most popular visit type. With the additional 15 minutes over the Cheetah visit, this visit type allows for both the completion of care related activities as well as the opportunity for more personal interaction with your cat.

Recommended for shy cats, multi-cat households, and cats that enjoy playtime or companionship.

The Tiger’s Pride (60-Minute Visits)

We've developed the Tiger's Pride as an unhurried hour allowing for even greater opportunities for deeper connection and a calming steady rhythm. Cats seem to relax more deeply when they know what to expect and have the opportunity to gradually wind down.

Recommended for kittens, medicated or special needs cats, highly active breeds, or cats that just take a bit longer to get settled.

Bed & Breakfast

Our Bed & Breakfast bundles were developed for cats that love routine and enjoy additional companionship. You can choose to pair a 2-hour morning visit with a 45-minute evening visit, or pair a 2-hour evening visit with a 45-minute morning visit, whichever you believe would work best for your cat based on when they enjoy interacting with you the most.

Recommended for affectionate cats, those that thrive on a daily routine with their humans, rambunctious kittens, or families wanting that cozy feeling for their shy cats.

WhiskerCam

If your primary concern is whether your cat is eating or using the litter box while you're away, WhiskerCam offers a very simple and effective way to give yourself peace of mind. Along with the monitoring we do during our visits, we can also install a camera during the visit, monitor your cat's food and litter usage remotely, and remove the camera upon leaving. Easy peasy.

5 Days Prior To Travel: Review Your Pet And Home Details

The AVMA’s guidance on planning for pets emphasizes thinking through arrangements and contingencies. Take a moment to log-in to your client portal and verify your pet and home details. All client details can be accessed 24 hours a day via the client portal, making it easy to update details prior to each trip.

  • The amount of food your cat eats, as well as where everything is stored

  • The location of cleaning supplies and trash areas

  • Litter routine and setup

  • Any favorite hiding spots and doors that should remain open

  • Any medication requirements, as well as vet contact information and emergency numbers

3 days before: set the house up for “easy success”

Our visits cover much more than just basic cat care. As part of our visit, we're also taking care to ensure that your home remains clean, safe, and operating efficiently.

A little preparation ahead of time makes every visit a breeze for both your cat and your sitter.

Setup checklist

  • Leave extra food and litter in a convenient location

  • Make certain all your fountains and feeders are working and back-up food and water bowls are available

  • Verify that all access directions are up-to-date

  • Leave cleaning supplies available for easy replenishment of litter boxes, etc.

1 Day Prior To Travel: Comfort Check

Walk-through your home from your cat's perspective. Make certain their favorite places are easily accessible, cozy, and familiar.

Keep things as consistent as possible. Unless absolutely necessary, try not to introduce any new foods or litters.

Pro Cat Sitter Tip: Also, consider leaving out enrichment items your cat enjoys so we may incorporate them into each visit.
