How Did Shannon's Journey with Animals Begin?

Growing up in rural South Florida (Homestead), Shannon was rarely without an animal by her side. From dogs and cats to birds, rabbits, reptiles, horses, and just about every stray that wandered her way, caring for animals became part of who she was. She credits her mom for encouraging a childhood filled with compassion, curiosity, and a deep respect for all creatures.
In 1995, Shannon and her husband Jamie moved to Ocala to raise their four children. Today, Ocala is home, along with their growing family of eight grandchildren.
How Did Ocala Pet Sitting Get Started?
While earning her Bachelor's degree in Animal Biology from the University of Florida, Shannon knew she wanted a career working with animals. In late 2005, a friend's simple suggestion to start a pet sitting business sparked what would become Ocala Pet Sitting.
Over the past two decades, Shannon has continued to invest in professional education while helping raise the standards of the pet care industry. She serves as Vice President of the Florida Pet Services Association and volunteers her time supporting education, networking, and professional resources for pet business owners throughout Florida.
How Does Shannon Help Advance the Professional Pet Care Industry?
Shannon is passionate about helping both pets and the professionals who care for them. As a Regional Director for the Florida Pet Services Association, she mentors emerging pet care professionals and founded the Ocala Pet Business Network to strengthen collaboration and education among local pet businesses.
Her professional credentials include Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS), Pet First Aid & CPR certification, and ongoing continuing education in professional pet sitting, feline care, business leadership, and team development.
