Growing up in rural South Florida (Homestead), Shannon always had a mix of pets, including dogs, cats, birds, bunnies, lizards, snakes, mice, hermit crabs, ferrets, stray turtles, and a paint horse named Kona. She gives special thanks to her Mom for nourishing her Snow White-inspired upbringing.
In 1995, Shannon and her husband Jamie moved to beautiful Ocala to raise their four children. Ocala quickly became their hometown, and they now have seven grandchildren!
Just before graduating from University of FL (Go Gators!) with a Bachelor's in Animal Biology, Shannon knew she had a strong desire to work with animals but wasn't entirely sure which direction that would take. In late 2005, a friend suggested she start a pet sitting business, and Ocala Pet Sitting was born that very weekend.
In her extensive tenure in the pet care industry, Shannon has diligently pursued continuous education to elevate her expertise. She feels honored to serve as Vice President for the Florida Pet Services Association, actively contributing as a volunteer to uplift and provide professional resources to other pet business owners in the pet care industry.
Shannon is passionate about connecting with other pet industry professionals. She also continues to serve as a Regional Director for FPSA in the North Central Florida/ Ocala area. As such she mentors emerging pet sitters and those who would like to take their hobby to a professional level. She's the creator of the Pet Business Network of Ocala & North Central Florida, fostering connections among local pet business owners to benefit all pets in our local community.
Shannon's commitment to excellence is evident in her many certifications, including Certified Professional Pet Sitter (CPPS) through Pet Sitters International (PSI) and Pet CPR & First Aid Certification.
Over the past 20+ years, with hundreds of clients and thousands of visits, Shannon's passion for providing the best possible pet care for Ocala residents has only grown stronger. Her expertise, combined with her deep love for all creatures now extends to a team of select individuals that demonstrate the methods and values taught by Shannon.She's proud to extend her knowledge with others and provide the support and education they need to provide absolute best care possible for your discerning felines (and their humans).
